President Russell M. Nelson introduced members tonight to a beautiful new symbol for the Church. It places the familiar logo of the Church within a box that represents the cornerstone of the Church, which is Jesus Christ, and above that is the image of the beautiful Christus statue that is so widely and appropriately used through the Church. What a beautiful and appropriate design!

Agreed, it's a great symbol! I hope it quickly becomes the Gospel Library app symbol, too.
It's nice to see the Mormon church embrace the artwork of a homosexual Danish Lutheran.
God loves all his children. He even inspires people who weren’t perfect to create the amazing. While Joseph Smith was having his first vision, Thorvaldsen was craft clay models of the Christus. Just curious… who were Anna Maria Von Uhden, Frances Mackenzie, Fanny Caspers btw? And Elisa?
Anonymous 1:47 is being silly. Thorvaldsen was quite the womanizer.
So inspired! So original!

Say, have any of them authorities of the church noticed that there's a pandemic going on? There are lots of people who could use some spiritual guidance and lots of people who will be dying.
Are they even aware? Have they done anything to help?
I love the new symbol as well and am grateful for the hope and inspiration I received from all of the general authorities this weekend. It's unfortunate that there are so many that are quick to try to find anything negative to share about what others rejoice in, but I also understand that we all have our character defects. Props to you for keeping this blog and rising above the negative criticism with each post.
What in the world can you "rejoice" in about re-purposed derivative artwork?
The world is in existential stress and your prophets had nothing to offer in the way of pastoral care or actual intervention. They came up with some lame re-branding and the promise of a couple temples very few will ever even use and you think that's a substitute?
Hi Anonymous, just because you look at it as a "repurposed derivative work" doesn't mean it is looked at that way by myself or others. We all have our different views and opinions and I think we should all feel like we can rejoice about what we value even if others may not agree with it.
Also, see the link for all the many ways the church is helping: https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/latter-day-saints-global-covid-19-relief-efforts
Blessings to you and your family 🙂
Gotta hand it to the church! Not only did they re-brand themselves. (Well, maybe they did — time will tell.) But they also rebranded ex-Mornonism. Those guys have wrapped their arms around the concept of being "unruly children" with a vengeance. They're LOVING it!
Nice going, Russ!
Nope, Thorvaldsen was definitely a homosexual. Look at his work sometime why don't you.
Thorvaldsen is okay, I guess, but he’s no Arnold Friberg.
