Based on the comments from offended people regarding my EXMO virus post, let me point out that the EXMO virus does not describe all former Mormons by any means, but was meant to refer to those who become outspoken anti-Mormons actively fighting the Church. (Actually, it was just a silly joke not to be taken too seriously.) I like the sound of “EXMO” as a virus name since it has the flavor of other known virus names, but to be more sensitive and politically correct, I would like to rename the virus as the “Rare Former Mormon Who Becomes a Raving Anti-Mormon Quite Unlike Most Ex-Mormons Who Are Really Nice and Intelligent People” virus. It’s a more accurate name, but somehow just seems less catchy.

Jeff,
Just so as you know, I thoroughly enjoyed your post formerly known as EXMO Virus. No matter what you name it, it is a great piece!
Thank you so much for your wonderful website. Was the Book of Mormon Plagiarized from Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass?, had me rolling! I found your article about Prophets being fallible to be especially helpful. Although not a reason for my leaving, it has been something that troubled me. It’s nice to have a place to read about these things, and you make many good points (with an enjoyable writing style too!). Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Valerie. I really appreciate the kind words! And I’m glad your system is not infected with that virus, whatever it’s named.
